Construction of roads

1966 Season

The secretary reported that a 9 foot wide concrete roadway from the Church Road entrance to the south end of the site would cost about £2000. After getting more tenders, it was agreed to contract for the roadway for £3000. According to June Tilbury Plot 6B in 2014, Budds, the builders got the contract and sub-let the job to H Pharo Plant Hire of Badshot Lea. The concrete was supplied by Pre Mix of Ash Vale. A John Boas, son in law of H Pharo, who worked on the job, told June that there is a pipe running under the road from the big gate to the end of the road, it then runs under the allotment plot 1. The water supply pipeline was replaced before any work took place on the roadway.

The Town Clerk asked if the Association wished to relinquish the Calvert Close site and was told that it was not to be given up.

There was a proposal that the Secretary’s remuneration be increased.
